Experience
Previous tutoring experience with middle school students in math, reading and writing. Previously tutored a graduate student in German in preparation for his trip to Germany. Tutored English in Beijing China to a professor at Beijing Foreign Studies University. I have taken over the requirement of anthropology courses for my major and feel very confident in my knowledge to tutor in that area. I have an advanced grasp of both Chinese and German, the latter of which I conducted a job in. I received the Foreign Language and Area Studies Scholarship for $10,000/year to study Chinese. I lived abroad in Germany for one year (2011-2012) working as an au pair in Germany so I have experience working with lots of different people. Later in college I had the chance to study abroad twice, once in India and once in China. I have studied Spanish, German, Hindi and Chinese. As for me personally, I like to make people feel at ease, and my philosophy is always to make the learning process feel worthwhile and to couch it in affirmation and encouragement. Because I think there is so much good out there to know and understand, and that knowledge makes our lives more comprehensible, I think the worst thing you can do is discourage someone from learning. This is where my interest in teaching and tutoring comes from. I want knowledge and information to be accessible across the board and I am preparing to enter into the field of education to help realize this.
